Joanne wins top Yorkshire business award
Joanne Williams, the development manager of Malton-based Redworth Construction Ltd, has won a major Yorkshire business award.
Joanne, aged 36, of Swinton, near Malton, has been named as the Best Business Practitioner in the Yorkshire Business Insider magazine’s prestigious 42 under 42 awards.
Peter Baber, the editor of Yorkshire Business Insider, commented: "Although our 42 under 42 event is widely seen as being only for entrepreneurial business owners, we actually celebrate the achievements of key employees too.
“Joanne's success in bringing on Redworth's development department and taking charge of the company's own new office development is a prime example of that. She stands to take any company she works for much further,” he commented.
Howard Rogers, the managing director of Redworth Construction, said: “Joanne’s award is richly deserved. She is a model employee – hard-working, intelligent, dedicated, enthusiastic and loyal. It is wonderful that Joanne’s ability has been recognised in these awards and her success has given a boost to everyone at Redworth. We are very proud of her.”
Meanwhile two of Redworth Construction’s care home projects were short-listed for honours in the 2007 Healthcare Design Awards. These awards, which are the healthcare sector’s equivalent of the architectural Oscars, were presented at a special ceremony at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood in London.
The projects were Roby House in Huyton, Liverpool and Abingdon Court in Abingdon, near Oxford. Roby House, which was built for Meridian Healthcare, features a cinema complex, in-house hair studio, relaxing therapy room and en-suite facilities.
Abingdon Court, meanwhile, is a £3.5 million, 64-bedroom care home which was built for Carebase. It was recently opened by Colin Dexter, the creator of Inspector Morse.
Howard Rogers commented: “Whilst we were disappointed not to win, it was a great honour to be short-listed. The ceremony took place at Lord’s and it was a fantastic experience to visit the home of cricket.”
