Redworth lands hat-trick of contracts worth £7 million
Award-winning Redworth Construction, one of North Yorkshire’s leading building companies, has secured a hat-trick of contracts worth £7 million to build care homes for the elderly.
Malton-based Redworth are building two homes in Leeds and one in Crook, near Bishop Auckland.
“We are very pleased to have landed such prestigious contracts from three different clients and it continues our excellent start to 2007. These will provide high-quality homes, comprising fabulous surroundings for the residents and staff alike,” said Howard Rogers, managing director of Redworth Construction.
Redworth is building Rievaulx Lodge in Armley, Leeds for Meridian Healthcare; Colton Lodges in Colton, Leeds for BUPA; and West Lodge Care Home for West Lodge Care Homes in Crook. Work is now under way on all three homes.
Mr Rogers commented: “Colton Lodges is our first job for BUPA. Redworth are delighted to have started a new relationship with a company with such an excellent reputation. We look forward to enjoying an effective and successful working partnership."
John Evans, BUPA’s project director at Colton Loges, said: “We have been extremely impressed with Redworth Construction so far. Work started last month and everything is going to plan. Colton Lodges, which is an 18-bed extension to our existing home in Colton, is scheduled to be handed over in December and we have every confidence in Redworth to deliver”.
Rievaulx Lodge is a 48-bed care home, which is being built in the grounds of Meridian’s Amber Lodge in Thornhill Road, Armley, and West Lodge is a 60-bed care home on the outskirts of Crook.
Meanwhile two of Redworth Construction’s care home projects were short-listed for honours in the 2007 Healthcare Design Awards. These awards, which are the healthcare sector’s equivalent of the architectural Oscars, were presented at a special ceremony at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood in London.
The projects were Roby House in Huyton, Liverpool and Abingdon Court in Abingdon, near Oxford. Roby House, which was built for Meridian Healthcare, features a cinema complex, in-house hair studio, relaxing therapy room and en-suite facilities.
Abingdon Court, meanwhile, is a £3.5 million, 64-bedroom care home which was built for Carebase. It was recently opened by Colin Dexter, the creator of Inspector Morse.
Earlier this year it was announced that Redworth are moving to a new home in Old Malton – on their own brand-new development. The company, whose turnover is expected to exceed £30 million this year after only six years of trading, is relocating to a unique £5 million office development at Manor Park, Malton.
The two-acre Manor Park, which is situated in a picturesque conservation area of Old Malton, has direct access to the busy A64 Leeds-York-Scarborough trunk road and is less than a mile away from the market town of Malton.
