Firm gets £14m deal
A building company from North Yorkshire has secured a £14 million contract to build three care homes for the elderly.
Redworth Construction, of Malton, is to build the homes in Northampton - based Avery Healthcare.
The firm will start building a care village in Boughton on the outskirts of Northampton later this month.
The development comprises a 62-bed care home, together with a 24-bed unit for dementia suffers, a 18-bed unit of closecare apartments and 14 closecare bungalows. Work is scheduled to be completed in the autumn of 2008.
The Bristol project, which began last August, involves a 60-bed high-specification care home in the Hengrove area of the city, specialising in nursing and dementia care.
Redworth will also be modernising an existing high-quality care home called the Cedars, at North Wooton, near Salisbury, and building a new 40-bed extention.
"The Cedars is an 1880's listed building which once belonged to the famous conductor Sir Adrian Boult and is subject to strictplanning conditions, " said a spokesman. The refurbishment and extention will be completed by the summer of 2008.

Earlier this year it was announced that Redworth was moving to a new home in Old Malton. The company, whose turnover is expected to exceed £22 million this year after only five years of trading, is relocating to a @5 million office development at Manor Park.
